OLIVE TREE

The OLIVE TREES Collection symbolizes many aspects of the Palestinians’ food, culture, and attachment to the land.  It’s mention in the Quran:  

“The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire” (24:35)  and use of olive oil by the traditional Palestinian churches for anointing people and lighting lamps add significant dimensions for Palestinians.

The olive tree became a motif in the Palestinians’ resistance to Israeli occupation and a source of inspiration.  As such, my art started with the OLIVE TREES Collection before it branched into other themes and expressions.

TREES MEET SKY

This Collection is conceived from the traditional and cultural Palestinian embroidery.  Each artistic frame weaves in various unique designs with no emphasis on specific colors or patterns from the various regions of Palestine.  The designs provide different expressions with every glance, and every person would find specific aspects and lines connecting the land, trees, and sky common in all frames.

PALESTINE

As embroidery branched into other forms and illustrations using Arabic letters and new patterns, the PALESTINE Collection uses similar approaches to create these unique expressions.
